Finisar Network TAPs are commonly used with Network Intrusion Detection Systems (nIDS), Network Analysers and Network Performance Monitoring tools as they provide a non-intrusive, full line rate access point where normally a SPAN port or similar would be necessary.

Network TAPs overcome many of the limitations of SPAN ports as they do not degrade Network Switching performance in any way and do not require any specific configuration.
